From 10 to 12 July 2026, Verbier becomes the world capital of alpine trail running. The next edition of the Trail Verbier Saint-Bernard by UTMB® is confirmed for those dates, set in the heart of the Swiss Valais. For the thousands of runners travelling from afar, sorting out accommodation is one of the first things on the list.
An Event That Goes Far Beyond Sport
The Trail Verbier Saint-Bernard by UTMB is Switzerland’s oldest ultra-trail and a fixture on the UTMB World Series circuit. That status matters: it draws a dedicated international community of runners who come to earn their qualifying points for the UTMB in Chamonix.
Four races are on the programme: the X-Alpine (140 km, 8,900 m elevation gain), which sets off at night on Friday 10 July; the X-Traversée (77 km, 5,000 m); the Verbier Marathon (43 km, 3,000 m); and the Verbier X-Plore (28 km), the most accessible format for those newer to trail running.
The X-Traversée and the Verbier Marathon are already sold out for 2026 — which says everything about the event’s appeal, and why planning ahead, accommodation included, is essential.

Routes Through Some of the Finest Scenery in the Alps
What sets the Trail Verbier Saint-Bernard apart is the sheer quality of the landscapes it moves through. The courses take in the Pierre Avoi, the Attelas, the Mont-Fort refuge, the Levron water channel, Champex, the Orny mountain hut at 2,826 m in its glacial setting, La Fouly, the Fenêtre Lakes, the iconic Great St Bernard Pass, the Col des Chevaux, the Col de Mille and the Panossière site.
Every race finishes with the legendary “wall”: a relentless 1,200 m climb in the final stretch before the finish line in Verbier.
For those supporting a runner or simply soaking up the atmosphere without racing, the Ultra-Trail Village in Verbier offers stands, food and entertainment throughout the weekend, with children’s discovery trails rounding out the experience. Something for everyone, whether you’re a supporter, a family or just curious.

Verbier in July: More Than a Race Weekend
Even for those who don’t run, Verbier in summer is worth the trip on its own. The Val de Bagnes offers a network of well-marked trails accessible to all: gentle family walks up to the mountain pastures, well-maintained mountain biking tracks, and more demanding hikes to high-altitude refuges. The resort moves at a quieter summer pace, without the bustle of ski season — and it’s precisely that calm, combined with the clarity of the mountain air, that draws visitors looking for genuine nature.
For a couple or a family wanting to combine the energy of a major sporting event with a few days of mountain recharge, the weekend of 10–12 July 2026 is a perfect fit. The racing action stays in the resort, while the surrounding alpages remain on hand for those wanting a few hours of peace.
Book Early
Verbier has a wide range of accommodation options: hotels, apartments and chalets. And booking early is, of course, strongly advised.
For a short stay around the race weekend, Domus offers studios and two to three-bedroom apartments available for short lets. A fully equipped kitchen, space for your gear, no fixed check-in pressure: ideal conditions for recovering after a race, or for enjoying the mountains at your own pace.
Availability around 10–12 July fills up quickly. We recommend getting in touch as soon as possible with your dates and group size.
